At 55 years old, Zen Jingūji takes early retirement from his government job and begins a carefree new life. One day, while camping alone at a campsite in Yamanashi Prefecture, he looks up to see the Milky Way shining brightly—a sight never visible back in the city. “I really am all alone, huh…” He isn’t dissatisfied with his life, but he isn’t fulfilled either. Just as he thinks these quiet days will simply continue forever, a blinding light suddenly engulfs him. In an instant, Zen is transported to a vast galactic civilization filled with goblins, orcs, and countless other non-human races— and somehow ends up partnering with a dog-like creature as his buddy! A middle-aged former civil servant embarks on an unexpected adventure across the universe!
